Tamara walks down the castle halls admiring the tapestries. She thinks to herself, I really should get a tapestry of Nicholas bare chested wearing a bear fur cloak in a manly pose. She nearly swoons at the thought, but whether from the thought of Nicholas’ bare chest or the feeling of slimy tendrils entering her mind she isn’t sure. The feeling passes almost as soon as it started and the man of her thoughts walks down the hall toward her followed by the sounds of battle in the distance.
“Nicholas! What’s happening?”
“Some demon has escaped from the prison below the keep, I needed to make sure you were safely out of the castle. I could hardly afford to go into battle when my thoughts would be resting solely on your safety.” Nicholas purrs oozing charisma. “Now I suggest you lead us out of the castle dear.”
Minutes later safely out of the castle Tamara asks “Nicholas what happened to your rapiers?”
“Ah yes, Sarenrae’s butt-boy suggested I try something other than an over grown needle. However, I must be off, but I can’t wait till our wedding night. I suggest you have a sleep for now. Who should I wear for the wedding, so many choices.”
With that, he disappears from sight, and a moment later she hears his voice behind her.
“Tamara! Thank all the gods and goddesses you’re all right!” Now Nicholas is running down the castle steps towards her.
“Nicholas? What…” Tamara stutters in confusion. Nicholas looks dishevelled now, and his rapier has blood on it. But hadn’t she just asked him about that? Her mind felt strangely numb and cloudy.
“It’s all right, sweetie, it’s over now. You’re safe. Um, you didn’t happen to see a demon come by here, did you?”
